The Thoracic Oncology tissue bank is a repository of patient tumor specimens and matched normal tissue accumulated over the past decade by UCSF thoracic surgeons. Since the mid-1990s, the Thoracic Oncology Program has preserved high quality snap-frozen sections of tumor, normal tissue, blood, and bronchial mucosa and lavage in liquid nitrogen from surgically resected patients. These specimens have been carefully matched to a database of clinical outcomes, making them an invaluable research tool.
