Biography
Hui Li, Ph.D. joined the Thoracic Oncology Lab in 2009 as
Assistant Specialist. Her research focus is to understand the role
of Wnt and Hedgehog signaling pathways in human lung cancer and
mesothelioma, and to develop novel small molecule inhibitors
targeting Wnt and Hedgehog signaling pathways. The research will be
focused on screening of small molecule library, cell-based assays,
biochemical assays, mechanism analysis and animal studies.
Prior to UCSF, Dr. Hui has worked as an intern with the Office
of Technology Transfer at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor,
where she developed commercialization plans for a novel biomaterial
and a regenerative medicine.
Hui obtained a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Tsinghua
University in China in 2003. and her Ph.D. in Molecular,
Cellular & Developmental Biology from the University of
Michigan, Ann Arbor in 2009 with Prof. Ken Cadigan. Her research
was focused on the Wnt signaling pathway and apoptosis in the fruit
fly Drosophila. Her dissertation was entitled as "The Regulation of
Drosophila Inhibitor of Apoptosis Protein I in Apoptosis and Cell
Survival".
